Asphalt is an electronic logbook application that was designed to minimize the need for user interaction.
Instead of specifying positions, times and routes manually, the app records all necessary data using your phones GPS module, even street names get resolved on the fly.
It is even possible to let Asphalt handle the recordings automatically.
If the automated tour recording is enabled the app remains active after the user navigates away.
Once the user exceeds a certain speed threshold, Asphalt automatically starts recording a new tour.
In order to conserve battery power this feature can be disabled.
Tours can be categorized as "private", "business" or "commute" and can be supplemented with details or reasons.
The collected data can be exported using the users SkyDrive account in an excel compatible csv format.
Continued use of the phone's GPS sensor in can dramatically decrease battery life, it is therefor recommended to attach the phone to the car's power supply.
